Maths & English Tuition

Finding a Maths Tutor or an English Tutor can prove to be a challenge!  Maths and English Tuition at WES is offered up to GCSE to include SATS, 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance Examinations.

Based on many years experience of teaching to the curriculum within both the State and Independent sector, our tutors are able to bring to the lessons a comprehensive understanding of what each child is expected to know.  We will address any gaps or weaknesses in a timely and effective manner.

MATHS TUTORING

Your Maths Tutor will look to address each of the following key areas:

  • Number
  • Ratio and Proportion
  • Algebra
  • Measurement
  • Geometry
  • Statistics

Depending on the age of your child this may vary slightly, however, it is useful to consider this as the starting point. The development of ‘Mental Maths’ skills will also form a fundamental part of the tuition provided.

The initial FREE assessment will assist in identifying the areas for development.

As well as teaching for exams, at WES, the overarching goal is to help the student understand the basic concepts, develop his/her self confidence, and offer guidance that will allow them to take their existing and newly acquired understanding into new and unfamiliar learning situations.

Unlike many of the well known High Street tutoring agencies, all Maths tutoring and English tutoring at WES is delivered on a one-to-one basis with no computer-based ‘holding activities’. The advantage being, each child will receive intensive instruction for the full hour, targeting their specific and individual needs.

“Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about UNDERSTANDING.”
