About Worcester Elocution School
Principal: Philip D Bailey MA BA PGCE LVCM AVCM (TD)
Worcester Elocution School was formed with the intention of increasing the accessibility of Speech and English Language Tutoring, specifically in the form of examination offerings, to a wider representation of school-aged children across Worcestershire and the West Midlands. Whether a child wishes to explore a career in the performing arts or wishes to increase their confidence and ability to communicate, Worcester Elocution School aims to make this a reality for all.
Philip Bailey has been involved in teaching for over 10 years. After gaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, he went on to teach in both the State and Independent sector. Philip also embarked on Postgraduate study in the field of Special and Inclusive Education, achieving his MA in 2013. Alongside his teaching commitments, Philip worked in a consultancy role for a national organisation, advising schools on their Special Educational Needs provision and sharing good practice within the classroom setting. Philip has conducted independent research in the field of speech and linguistics and has been working within schools, offering a range of speech-based workshops and tutorials, preparing learners for a range of examinations. Throughout this period, Philip has also been working as a Tutor to a number of private clients, including teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
Philip holds the LAMDA Gold Medal in Public Speaking (Merit), LAMDA Gold Medal in Speaking of Verse and Prose (Merit), LAMDA Gold Medal in Reading for Performance (Distinction). He also achieved the New Era Gold Medal in Spoken English (Distinction), New Era Gold Medal in Reading (Distinction). He was awarded the Licentiateship and Associateship of the Victoria College of Music in Speech and Drama Education with Honours.
